The village of El Carrizal is one of a number of small villages tucked away in the remote and spectacular western canyonlands of Gran Canaria. In the background is the
Presa del Parralillo, located at the confluence of the Tejeda, Chorrillo and Silo canyons, where it then becomes the Barranco de La Aldea, which runs in a westerly direction to the coast at San Nicolas de Tolentino. The reservoirs muddy waters and the unusually green scenery is the result of many days of torrential rains in February 2010.
