Description:
The beach of La Aldea, situated close to San Nicolas de Tolentino, is located in the most remote part of the west coast of Gran Canaria. The steep cliffs are the Roque de la Marciega (closest) and the Punta de los Agujeros (far distance). These mountains are some of the oldest rock formations on the island of Gran Canaria, they are composed of basaltic rocks emitted from an eruptive centre within this area between 14.5 and 14.1 million years ago.
