Description: Lilford’s wall Lizard (Podarcis lilfordi) is a rather common lizard of the Balearic island’s of Majorca and Menorca, these being of a yellowing colour with a green back. There do however exist a melanistic animal varying in colour from black to brown, often with bluish tinges on the sides of the head. This melanistic lizard photographed here is jet black and is only found on the Isla del Aire, a small island off the south east coast of Menorca where it numbers many thousands.
