Description:
Damaged Reef, Safaga, Egypt. The Hynderman group, are a patchwork of shallow reefs lying off the coast of Safaga on the northern Red Sea coast of Egypt. Sadly, owing to the booming tourist industry, reef resources in this area are being over exploited. Close to Panorama reef, Middle reef has been extensively damaged by what appears to be dynamite fishing and in many areas damage has occurred to corals, as a result of an over population of sea urchins, caused by the decline of their main predators; the large Triggerfishes and Pufferfish.
