Description:
View looking to the north across the lush green northern slopes from close to the Montañon Negro volcano located on the summits of Gran Canaria’s north western highlands, to the south of the small town of Fontanales. The Lava flow at the bottom of image is dated as 2,970 years old and was emitted from fissures within the base of the crater which is open to the north. The lava flow at this point cascaded down into the upper Barranco de La Virgin, a canyon along which it flowed for 13 Km.
