Description:
Crater of the Pico Viejo (Old peak) volcano. The Pico Viejo is located just to the west of mount Teide, Tenerife's highest peak and is part of the same stratovolcano. Pico Viejo last erupted in 1798, an eruption lasting 92 days, during which basaltic lava flows and pyroclastics were emitted from a flank fissure vent. On the left side of the crater the remains of a lava lake is visible.
